The TJ Roots Food company has within its current portfolio several catering contracts, including Lonmin PMR, Lonmin Marikana, Landbank – Centurion, AC Nielsen – Ormonde, Clientele – Rivonia, Hollard City Campus – Braamfontein & Hollard Parktown Campus. (Both the Hollard sites sports our innovative new Free issue Beverage solution that produces not only outstanding quality of coffee and product but also comes with a significant cost saving and improved service) – but more about that under Free Issue Solutions.

Our core values with the Corporate Contract catering is interlinked – they each form a pillar of our goals to deliver an excellent, value for money, great quality service to the clients.

Our customers truly is King and our food is from an outstanding quality. We control the food quality through a stringent imposed Food Quality Statement.


  • Proteins will be served at the maximum levels indicated on specification

  • The weights will be the raw weights with regards to proteins

  • Only A-Grade meat will be used in the preparation of the meals

  • Only sustainable Fish will be used

    • Sustainability is a subject that is close to our hearts! Especially when it comes to food sources, undeniably natural resources are stretched to the limit with the growing number of consumers. All our suppliers are investigated for Sustainable practice – especially those that have a severe impact on natural resource.
  • Only 15% brined Chicken will be used. (The industry average now sits at 30%)

  • No frozen meats will be used in the preparation of meals

    • Frozen meats dilute the quality of the meat and allows for suppliers to do some creative packaging with brine, water and other extenders.
  • No maximum weight will be imposed on the Mielie Meal portion

    • Simply, you can have a whole plate of traditional pap for a single serving portion price. Madness, you say! But as the number one stable food of South Africans it brings a sense of home and comfort for those patrons that does like an extra bit of bulk to their meal.
  • All products will have traceability.

    • Each incoming ingredient has known origins, the product production process is reputable and the ingredients within the processed incoming products is known and approved.
  • All sauces will be of premium quality, our prescribed brands are Cornwall sauces, Tiger Brands, Nestle & Wellington. Only original sauces that has a quality commitment of their own will be used in our kitchens. Any label that says econo, catering or budget is just not good enough.

  • All spices will be of a premium quality without msg’s or added salt. We season our own food with salt, the herb and spices used for flavour is fresh and pure. Local brands like Cape Herb & Spice is seen in all our kitchens and tasted in all our foods.

  • Training of chefs – our chefs are trained monthly with inhouse training and reputable organizations like the South African Chefs Association Short Course modules.

Customer Service is another pillar of our contract catering offering. Staff is trained inhouse and via SACA and other reputable service training organization. Every plate of quality food is served with a smile. We aim to resolve issues within 24 hours.

But each site offering is tailored to the site requirements with brands, functions and food offering.
